US passes College Transparency Act

Last week on Friday, the US House of Representatives approved and passed the College Transparency Act after adding it to another bill.

The Act would require colleges and universities in the US to provide data to the Department of Higher Education. The data provided would include enrollment figures, graduation rates, transfer student information, etc. The information would be divided on the basis of demographics and other important factors such as choice of program, employability rate, etc.

Not only will the act help US institutions and policymakers to evaluate and enhance their performance, but it would also help prospective students to make better decisions.

The College Transparency Act was added to America COMPETES Act of 2022 bill, which would approve billions of dollars in research investments to better enable the United States to compete with China.
