New Zealand’s borders to reopen for international students

Education New Zealand (ENZ), New Zealand’s government agency for building international education, has made an announcement last week to allow entry of up to 5,000 international students in July.

A 5-step process has been set up to open New Zealand’s borders starting February 28, 2022. Initially, NZ citizens will be allowed entry to the country from Australia, followed by the rest of the world.

Students already enrolled in universities in New Zealand will be allowed to resume their studies in the country starting from July 2022. The selection criteria for the 5000 students that will be allowed entry have not yet been determined.

Processing of study visas for international students planning to study in New Zealand from 2023 will start in October 2022.

The news comes as a blessing for existing and prospective international students planning for a New Zealand higher education experience.
